Leave it to life to turn you into ashes to consume,
to scatter your dust across this field of dying dreams,
create the choices you must make though you did not want
to take them just to taste yet another tear,
build up the fear for a heartbeat loud enough to hear to know
your living not alive,
refute the truths you once knew until you don't even
know who you are anymore,
trying to find someone, something, just what this life is for,

only dark shades of gray with which to paint a picture of pain,
which through heart and vein flow,
day like night grow cold, mind and soul behold,
this all encompassing and aching overflow,
caught up in the throws of life's unforgiving undertow,
only to wash up upon another tortured shore,
unsure of just what lies ahead for you or even how and when,
the dark horizon sadly signals that for now there is no end.
